Robert Half Staff Accountant in Memphis, Tennessee
Description Build your career in accounting with Robert Half, now offering a permanent position for an experienced Staff Accountant that has a knack for problem-solving and enjoys new challenges. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Key responsibilities
Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation
Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request
Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision
Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Great attention to detail
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Solid understanding of month end closings
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Recent and relevant accounting experience
