Description We are seeking a meticulous Cost Accountant for our team in the plastics manufacturing industry, located in Mendon, Michigan. This role involves performing cost analysis, maintaining the company's bill of materials, and executing other accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct cost analysis and maintain the company bill of materials as directed

• Work with ERP/MRP Software Applications for various accounting tasks

• Leverage advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Spreadsheets for data management and reporting

• Participate in establishing standard cost for new items, including developing standard labor and burden costs

• Process, review and maintain the plants’ bill of materials and routings in ERP/MRP system to ensure they accurately reflect the manufacturing process

• Collaborate with Engineering Department on tracking costs for new production projects

• Provide monthly variance analysis reports

• Prepare various documents necessary to produce financial statements, periodic reports, and year-end audit work papers

• Participate in annual physical inventory process

• Develop basic knowledge of product lines, customer base and supplier base

• Assist other accounting department personnel as needed Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing setting, preferably in the plastics industry

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is a must

• Demonstrated understanding and application of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) processes

• Familiarity with Budget Processes in a manufacturing environment

• Solid understanding and experience in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis

• Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) in a manufacturing setting

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
