Robert Half Accounting Specialist in Middleton, Wisconsin

Description We are seeking an Accounting Specialist for our CPA firm based in Middleton, Wisconsin. This role involves managing a variety of accounting tasks in a dynamic workplace. The successful candidate will have an essential role in processing payrolls, managing accounts payable and receivable, creating financial transactions, performing reconciliations, and creating statements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and record transactions in journals and classify postings.

• Handle the payment of bills.

• Prepare financial statements according to the provided format.

• Reconcile bank accounts and trace discrepancies.

• Reconcile subsidiary accounts to controls.

• Record changes in property and equipment, calculate depreciation and amortization.

• Prepare payroll tax payments and forms.

• Prepare and pay sales tax.

• Post adjustments to the working trial balance.

• Prepare 1099’s and W-2’s.

• Offer QuickBooks consulting.

• Provide backup to the administrative assistant.

• Input income tax returns.

• Resolve income tax e-file rejections.

• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously, accurately, and efficiently with minimal supervision, while still meeting deadlines and time budgets.

• Manage clients and make basic decisions without supervisors consent.

• Complete work that is accurate and organized.

• Accept and seek out additional responsibilities.

• Protects all confidential information obtained on the job by safeguarding it when in use, filing it properly when not in use, disposing of it properly, and discussing it only with those who have a legitimate business need to know. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Familiarity with various Accounting Functions

• Experience handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Knowledge of Billing Functions

• Experience in Check Processing

• Proficiency in QuickBooks

• Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is preferred

• Prior experience in a CPA firm or similar environment is a plus

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country

• Willingness to continue professional development.
