Robert Half Director of Procurement in Midland, Michigan

Description

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented and experienced Procurement Director to lead our procurement team. The ideal Procurement Director candidate should have demonstrated high industry knowledge, excellent financial acumen, and superior leadership skills. This Procurement Director role is hybrid with up to 3 days/week REMOTE.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage the company overall procurement strategy.

  • Lead the procurement department and oversee all the purchasing activities.

  • Develop and manage procurement policies and procedures in alignment with corporate strategies.

  • Drive process improvements and cost savings with a focus on quality and timeliness.

  • Initiate and manage business relationships with vendors and suppliers.

  • Negotiate strategic contracts, terms and deadlines with suppliers and vendors.

  • Monitor the performance of the supply chain and analyze metrics, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Coach, develop and manage the procurement team to deliver strategic objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and international laws related to procurement.

  • Report procurement activities and performance results to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field. An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Proficient knowledge of procurement principles, procedures, and standards.

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

  • Exceptional leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

  • Proficiency with procurement software and technologies.

  • Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices.

  • CIPS, CPSM or other relevant certification would be considered an advantage.
