Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Midland, Texas

Description Support the day-to-day functions of the Payroll department as a Payroll Clerk at a growing company Robert Half has partnered with in the Midland, Texas region. This challenging position calls for a candidate with a strong sense of initiative looking to advance their career path and work alongside an industry leader. The company is a dynamic, fast-growing team, looking for someone who can communicate effectively with both the internal team and outside customers. The Payroll Clerk's job duties include data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. The Payroll Clerk position is looking to be filled on a long-term contract / temporary to hire employment contract.

Key responsibilities

  • Comprise data into spreadsheets and the payroll system

  • Configure custom reports

  • Correspond with employees via email and phone to garner approvals on timesheets

  • Carry out clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc

  • Devise a system of administering and distributing reports

  • Deliver instruction/training to employees regarding the use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.

  • Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system Requirements - Previous payroll experience

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new systems

  • Strong communication and social skills

  • Payroll software experience preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Special Payroll Deductions experience highly desired

  • Foundational knowledge in 401k - RRSP Administration

  • Command of semi-Monthly Payrolls

  • Process Bi-weekly Payroll experience

  • Monthly Commision experience

  • Adeptness in OSHA

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills
