Robert Half Safety Manager in Midland, Texas


Follows all Safety policies and procedures, and immediately notifies supervisor or other manager if Safety protocols cannot be met. Wears all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) per company policies or contractor requirements. Reports all incidents and accidents regardless of severity to supervisor immediately. Understands that he/she has stop-work authority if work cannot or is not being done safely. Please remember that all incidents and accidents can be prevented with proper job planning and hazard recognition,

Research, propose, and implement safe work policies, practices, procedures, and equipment/machinery.

Work through and with foremen, supervisors and management to maintain safe facilities, equipment, and vehicles.

Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping in order to meet safety requirements.

Ensure training of company personnel in all applicable safe work practices to ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Schedule and conduct monthly safety meetings, weekly supervisor meetings and continuous general safety audits.

Work with the Warehouse Manager to ensure an appropriate and adequate supply of personal protective equipment and safe equipment and/or tools for employees.

Ensure appropriate personnel are assigned and equipment available for Permit Required Confined Space work and/or Hot Work requirements as applicable.

Ensure that all safety related policies and procedures within the Employee Handbook and HSE Manual are reviewed and amended as needed to meet regulatory compliance and to work with management to quickly implement such.

Ensure that all new employees receive appropriate orientation training in applicable safety subjects.

Administer the Drug and Alcohol Policy of the company.

Ensure proper filing of reports relating to OSHA, TCEQ, as well as any other safety or environmental authorities.

Ensure that employees who are required to wear respirators are appropriately screened, have received a “Qualified” status from a LHCP, and have been FIT tested for assigned respirators before such employee is allowed to work in a capacity that would require respirator use or assisting another worker that is required to use a respirator.

Ensure and/or assign appropriate personnel to perform daily or periodic inspections of equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fall protection, respiratory protection, forklifts, aerial work platforms, mobile and overhead cranes, etc.

Relay customer safety requirements to applicable personnel and assist in meeting customer safety requirements.



Educational/Professional Requirements: Must have, and maintain, a general working knowledge of OSHA requirements and the safety aspects of applicable industries. It is preferred that the Safety Manager has obtained, or is obtaining, an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, or a related field. A strong background in medical first responder experience is preferred but not required.

Management/Supervisory Requirements: Must be able to work through and with foremen, supervisors, and administrative staff to manage the implementation and/or continuance of safe work practices, hazard recognition, and hazard prevention. Must properly supervise any personnel assigned to him/her to ensure accountability, work efficiencies, and safety of work performed. Advise Management on safety or environmental issues and appropriate resolutions.

General Requirements: Work requires professional written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Bilingual abilities in Spanish preferred but not required. Ability to motivate members of the organization to recognize unsafe work practices and to adopt a safety conscious attitude in all work procedures. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Above all must be a team player with high level of dedication.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand/walk up to 90% of the workday; sit to perform normal office duties for up to 90% of the workday, occasional bending, squatting, ascending ladders/stairways, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds. Must maintain current driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
