Accountemps currently has a long term temporary-to-fulltime position open for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a dynamic, growing organization. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Based in the Midlothian, Virginia region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls under SOX accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Bank reconciliations experience preferred
Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel
Deep understanding of data entry
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
