Manage daily activities of the payroll function ensuring accurate and timely processing of standard and routine payroll tasks while adhering to company policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
l Supervise and train payroll coordinator(s) in the performance of standard and routine payroll related tasks.
l Serve as point of contact for questions about payroll, taxes, withholdings & system capabilities
l Oversee system maintenance, improvements, and testing related to payroll; to include third party payroll services (tax, check distribution, etc.)
l Submit payroll for processing, verify withholdings, garnishments and direct deposits and generate final payroll reports (payroll register, etc.).
l Maintain accurate and up-to-date master employee data in Workday
l Assist Vice President of Finance with critical projects and tasks
l Handle additional payroll projects as assigned
l Review output of payroll coordinator(s) to ensure accuracy and completeness; serve as secondary audit for all batches prepared by payroll coordinator(s)
l Evaluate and update processes and documentation to ensure improvements and compliance to payroll regulations are incorporated timely and effectively
l Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports
l Provide guidance, assistance and training to direct reports by explaining and demonstrating the work to be performed
l Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and updated as necessary
l Apply for and set up new jurisdictions as needed
l Resolve tax notices for multiple jurisdictions
l Manage quarter and year end activities
l Responsible for SOX compliance
l Prepare Payroll and Benefit related Journal Entries
l Balance Sheet reconciliation
l International payroll processing
l Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management.
l Follow legal policies as directed.
l Proven payroll processing experience and competency supporting a medium to large company.
l Strong communication skills - written and verbal
l Dedicated associate with attention to detail
l Experience with Workday, ADP
l Pay eXpert, SAP, Oracle, or Peoplesoft payroll processing
High School diploma
CPP preferred, experience in leiu of certification acceptable Requirements Automated Payroll, bi-Monthly Payroll, Automated Payroll, Certified Payroll, Full Cycle Payroll, Multi-state Payroll, Payroll - 101 - 500 Employees, Payroll Law, Payroll Tax
