Description Robert Half is seeking a Database Administrator who loves the challenge of solving problems with multiple layers of complexity to join a company in the Healthcare, Hospitals, Social Assistance field. This may be the position for you if you are a skilled problem solver with fine-tuned decision-making abilities. This long-term contract / temporary opportunity for a Database Administrator is in Milford, Connecticut.
Your responsibilities in this role
Determine the best way to improve performance, whether through hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
Establish the baseline for system performance and detect deviation, suggesting and executing improvements to slow running queries
Restore service to databases as outages happen, including after hours and on weekends
Verify that SLA objectives for database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are met in design and execution
Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms
Install, configure, and maintain all relational database instances across development, staging, and production environments
Advise on database design, tuning options, and other potential issues Requirements - Storage and server hardware experience a plus
4+ years of database experience
Strong knowledge of relational database management systems
Prior experience adjusting queries to enhance performance
Relevant background in building and maintaining documentation
Strong familiarity with SQL Queries
Expertise in SQL Loader
MySQL experience desired
Experience in production environments and willingness to be on-call Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
