Robert Half Finance and Accounting is sourcing a Financial Controller for a growing construction business in Greeley, Colorado. This Financial Controller will be responsible for accurately delivering Accounting and Financial results to the key stakeholders of the organization and leading the Accounting department. Collaboration and experience working with key Project Managers and operations is expected in the role of the Financial Controller. The Financial Controller's responsibility will include managing the Accounting Month-End close, producing Financials for ownership, leading the Construction Budgets, creating reporting milestones on each project, leading the charge for ERP infrastructure and connectivity, and leadership and mentorship of Accountants. Major responsibilities

  • Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

    Requirements - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Well-founded grasp of Job Cost

  • Strong familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning

  • Proven knowledge of construction project accounting

  • Month end closings experience

  • Quality experience with Budget Processes

  • General familiarity with Microsoft Excel

  • Financial reporting experience required

  • Earlier work involving Accrual Accounting

  • Good understanding of Expense Accruals

  • Wide ranging experience with Accrual Accounting

  • Experience with Project Budgets

  • Practical knowledge of Expense Variance Analysis

  • Budget forecasting experience

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

  • Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
