Robert Half Payroll Administrator in Milpitas, California

Description

We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and ensure accurate and timely processing of union payroll for our construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for union employees, adhering to all relevant union contracts and prevailing wage laws.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records, including pay rates, fringes, deductions, and union dues within our internal payroll system.

  • Calculate gross pay, withholdings, and fringe benefits based on timesheets, union agreements, and employee elections.

  • Prepare and submit all required union reports, including health and welfare, pension, and apprenticeship funds.

  • Liaise with union representatives to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with union agreements.

  • Generate and distribute accurate and timely paychecks to employees.

  • Process and maintain accurate records of all payroll tax deductions for timely deposits to federal, state, and local authorities.

  • File all required payroll tax reports, including 941s and W-2s.

  • Assist with audits from federal, state, and local agencies, as well as union benefit funds.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant federal and state labor laws, including the Davis-Bacon Act and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

  • Stay up-to-date on changes to union contracts, prevailing wage rates, and payroll tax regulations.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, and other internal departments to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction payroll, with a strong focus on union payroll processing.

  • Proven knowledge of union contracts, prevailing wage laws, and fringe benefit calculations.

  • Experience using internal payroll systems is preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
