Description

The Interim Director of Accounts Payable will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts payable function on an interim basis. This temporary position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in accounts payable management. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing processes, enhancing controls, and ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and direction to the accounts payable team, including managers, supervisors, and staff. Set clear goals and objectives, monitor performance, and provide guidance and support as needed.

  • Process Optimization: Evaluate existing accounts payable processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Streamline workflows, implement best practices, and leverage technology to increase efficiency and productivity.

  • Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers. Negotiate favorable terms and conditions, resolve disputes, and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.

  • Payment Processing: Oversee the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports. Ensure adherence to payment terms and company policies.

  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow projections and manage payment schedules to optimize cash utilization. Identify opportunities to optimize working capital and minimize financial risks.

  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Implement policies and procedures to mitigate risks and prevent fraud.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports and analysis to track accounts payable performance, identify trends, and provide insights to senior management. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions as needed.

  • Team Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the accounts payable team. Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to support career growth and advancement.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, controls, and best practices.

  • Experience with accounts payable automation software and ERP systems.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
