The Full Charge Bookkeeper position is a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If you think you have what it takes to be responsible for all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements, as well as establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, you might be a good candidate for this job.
Key responsibilities
Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management
Supervising accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
Ensuring correct and punctual monthly, quarterly and year end close
Preparing depreciation schedules by tracking fixed assets
Performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including collections
Completing bank and general ledger reconciliations; processing payroll
Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and statements regarding income and cash flows
Carefully filing documents to preserve historical records
Requirements - High school diploma or comparable diploma with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
A deep understanding of accrual and cash basis of accounting
Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
Show the ability to adapt and learn new techniques and skill sets when required
Can work independently with minimal supervision
Adeptness in Bookkeeping Functions
General familiarity with Microsoft Office Suites
Computer Data Entry experience
Estate planning experience highly preferred
Practical knowledge of Accounting Principles
Demonstrated knowledge of Quickbooks Online
Financial reporting experience
Foundational knowledge in Perform Data Entry
HR Payroll System experience desired
Bill Payment experience required
- Proficiency with Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree
1+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping
Experience with payroll preferred
