Robert Half Staff Accountant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The ideal candidate for this Staff Accountant position can prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll be interested in this position if you want to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. How you will make an impact

  • Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision

  • Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

  • Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

  • Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations Requirements - Skilled with ERP systems

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Abila MIP experience highly desired

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired

  • General familiarity with Monthly Account Reconciliation

  • Practical knowledge of non-profit fund accounting

  • Well-founded grasp of Month-end Journal Entries

  • Quality experience with grant accounting

  • ADP - Payroll experience

  • Proven knowledge of month end closings

  • Strong familiarity with payroll systems for 100-500 employees

  • The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Excellent attention to detail
