To succeed in this Staff Accountant role, you will need to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. To succeed in this role, you will need to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. What you get to do every day
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation
Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Proficient in ERP systems
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Solid understanding of Month-end Close Activities
Avalara experience
Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)
Foundational knowledge in sales and use tax
Month-end Journal Entries experience required
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
