Robert Half International Payroll Administrator in MILWAUKIE, Oregon

Description

One of our reputable clients is seeking to add a talented Payroll Administrator to their team. This person will be responsible for the preparation and processing payroll; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions. You can also expect to coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, budget and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. labor" home" work, overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports).

Responsibilities:

  • Aim for timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles

  • Work in partnership Information Technology, Human Resources, and other internal business partners to ensure security protocols for pay systems

  • Examine data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence under FMLA or other unpaid leave

  • Check out pay practices related to FLSA, other payroll areas, and fringe benefit reporting to determine how those practices apply to advise management

  • Honor current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes and other required reporting

  • Accommodate staff with fringe benefits, pay related issues, general questions related to payroll, PTO accruals, and wage deductions

  • Deal with voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities

  • Administer regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger

  • Improve systems and protocols to direct the collection, calculation and entering of pay data

  • Produce quarterly and year-end payroll reports

Requirements

  • Three plus years in a Payroll Office performing all payroll functions; Three years additional payroll office experience in lieu of Associate's degree

  • Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer

  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
