Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in MINEOLA, New York. This role provides a long term contract employment opportunity within the finance industry. As a Staff Accountant, your primary focus will be supporting our accounting operations, including managing the month-end close process, handling cash disbursements, and assisting with annual tax duties, among other tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded
• Handle cash disbursements, ensuring the correct allocation of funds
• Process Accounts Payable (AP) payments promptly and accurately
• Input invoicing data entries, maintaining high accuracy levels
• Assist with annual tax duties, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
• Utilize strong excel skills to create and manage vlookups and pivot tables
• Use Power BI and Viewpoint Spectrum software to streamline and optimize accounting processes
• Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
• Create and post journal entries as required
• Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and execute payment processing as necessary. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proven experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger management
• Ability to prepare and post Journal Entries accurately
• Experience in Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in using Viewpoint Spectrum software
• Experience in Annual Tax preparation and filing
• Proficiency in using Power BI for data analysis and reporting
• Experience in Cash Disbursements and Payment Processing
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
