Description
Robert Half is searching for an ambitious Controller to join a reputable Insurance company. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. What you get to do every day
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Requirements - Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
Practical knowledge of auditing
Enterprise resource planning experience
Experience with ERP Solutions
Strong familiarity with DCAA
General familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)
Well-founded grasp of Accounts Payable (AP)
Proven knowledge of Accounting Functions
Quality experience with Budget Processes
Expertise in ADP Financial Services
Solid understanding of Accounting Software Systems
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
CPA/MBA preferred
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
