This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Minneapolis, Minnesota region. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. To succeed in this role, you will need to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities Requirements - Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Foundational knowledge in Direct Supervision
Proficiency in Nonprofit Organizations
Concur experience desired
Microsoft Excel experience required
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
CPA or MBA preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
