Robert Half Cost Accountant in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Description Robert Half is currently working with a dynamic client seeking a cost accountant. This critical Cost Accountant role is responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also establish customer pricing by working closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team. Take physical inventory and review the cycle count program
Determine any changes in cost by analyzing any changes in services or goods provided
Perform internal cost audits
Analyze projects and data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
Manage the implementation of a standard costing methodology for domestic plants
Design a cost accounting system, and manage the documents and records of the organization- Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
Generate reports for management that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
Recommend costs and cost savings based on analysis
Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
Abide by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
Assist in general ledger preparation and audits
Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs
Approximate costs for new and proposed products Requirements - Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
Strong analytical thinking and a detail-oriented mindset
Understanding of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
Highly capable of analyzing financial data and quickly creating accurate reports
2 years of Cost Accounting work experience
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Understanding of organizational accounting concepts
