Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected Manufacturing company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. What you get to do every day
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Requirements - Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Comprehensive knowledge of construction
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel
Construction Accounting experience preferred
Job Cost experience preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
CPA or MBA preferred
