Robert Half General Accountant in Modesto, California
Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our client in the Modesto market's team as an Accountant. In this role, you will play a crucial part in their financial operations, handling a wide range of general accounting tasks and providing support for accounts payable. Additionally, you will be responsible for financial analysis for three distinct corporations within our organization. The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and have at least 1-4 years of relevant accounting experience.
Responsibilities:
General Accounting:
Perform day-to-day general accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Accounts Payable:
Manage accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying expenses, and preparing payments.
Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis and reporting for three separate corporations within the organization.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
Month-End and Year-End Closing:
Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of financial reports.
Assist with audit preparations and liaise with auditors as needed.
Compliance:
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial requirements.
Support the preparation of tax filings and other statutory compliance activities.
Financial Systems:
Utilize accounting software and financial systems to record, analyze, and report financial data.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with colleagues from various departments to gather financial data, answer inquiries, and provide financial insights.
Assist in ad-hoc financial projects as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in accounting or related roles.
Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of accounts payable processes and best practices.
Proficiency in using accounting software and financial systems.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform financial analysis independently.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
