Description Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected services company. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. Based in the Monterey, California area, this opening for a Controller is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • General familiarity with financial statement preparation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Financial Statement Audits

  • Month end closings experience desired

  • Practical knowledge of reconciliations

  • Adeptness in Financial Statement

  • Financial Analytics experience highly desired

  • Expertise in Month-end Close Activities

  • Financial analysis experience preferred

  • Deep understanding of Month-end Financial

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
