Robert Half has an opportunity for you to become a critical part of an innovative company, as a full-time Staff Accountant. Our client is open to a Full Charge Bookkeeper OR an Entry Level Degreed Accountant. You might be our ideal candidate, if you are driven by a challenging work environment with many components. To succeed in this Staff Accountant role, you will need to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. In this role, you will perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Montgomery, Alabama area, at a company where effort is rewarded. What you get to do every single day

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

  • Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

  • Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision

  • Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

    Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics (preferred)

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Adeptness in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Strong familiarity with Yardi

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger

  • General familiarity with journal entries

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • Experience with account reconciliation

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Practical knowledge of bi-Monthly Payroll

  • ERP system experience

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
