The Senior Accountant position is open due to company growth. This Senior Accountant role prepares and consolidates financial statements, analyzes and reconciles accounts, analyzes cash flow, creates budgets and forecasts, helps prepare audits, and manages internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting to attain company goals. Senior Accountant candidates should enjoy analytical tasks, challenges, and fast-paced environments. This Senior Accountant role is located in Monument, Colorado within the Non-Profit field. Provide monthly accounting closure procedures and deliverables, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP
Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management
Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required
Analyze donations, transfers, assessments, deposits and expenditures to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis in the appropriate GL accounts for the correct fund accounts, and within the correct funds and any other dimensions assigned.
Make all necessary monthly journal entries in order to maintain and balance general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and trial balance.
Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Commitment to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
Analyze financial information and report on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Record year end accruals (and other year-end adjustments).
Prepare work papers for and work closely with auditors for annual audit(s).
Assist with preparing schedules for 990 tax returns.
Import client budgets.
Assist with annual removal of client records to storage according to document retention policy
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Strong time management skills preferred
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Earlier work involving year end closings
Daily Cash Receipts experience highly desired
Good understanding of Year-end Close
Foundational knowledge in Cash Activity
Practical knowledge of US GAAP
Cash applications experience
General familiarity with GAAP Accounting
Non-profit fund accounting experience highly preferred
Background working with Form 1099
Expertise in wire transfer
Demonstrated knowledge of Adjusting Journal Entries
Financial statement preparation experience desired
Adeptness in journal entries
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Sound written and verbal communication skills
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
3+ years of overall general accounting experience
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
