Robert Half International Financial Business Analyst in Moon, Pennsylvania


Robert Half Management Resources is looking for a Financial Business Analyst to join our client's team in Pittsburgh. The Financial Business Analyst will be a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is temporarily remote but will be on-site in the future. The Financial Business Analyst position conducts analysis to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the business as well as plans and directs analysis of complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. The Financial Business Analyst will also coordinate the annual budget and related quarterly processes, preparing timely and meaningful analysis for the business, monitoring performance against historical, budgeted, and forecasted results, and daily review of exception reports to ensure accuracy of system information.


  • Monitor and analyze industry, cost analysis, finance and other business-related functions in order to develop new or modified information processing systems and trending reports.

  • Responsible for locating and extracting financial and other related data from various accounting and information systems for purposes of analysis.

  • Perform moderately complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of reports and data, and prepare subsequent narrative analysis for management.

  • Consult with business unit management and personnel to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage, formatting, and security requirements.

  • Develop and prepare monthly financial reporting package for the Division on a timely basis, with accurate and meaningful analysis,

  • Prepare presentation material as requested,

  • Coordinate and oversee the budget and related processes for the Division.

  • Review reports for variances / anomalies, investigate as needed, and advise Director of any potential errors / misstatements.

  • Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures.

  • Write and maintain functional specifications for new or modified business systems.

  • Consult and coordinate with systems analysts and programmers to design, develop and improve automated business systems.

  • Participate and contribute to company safety program.

  • Assist with internal / external audit requests as needed.

  • Actively lead or participate in special projects as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field or MBA

  • Three to five years of experience in a progressively responsible analyst position, including experience with SAP and Power BI

  • CMA or CPA (desired)

  • Strong accounting knowledge

  • Proficient with accounting systems, SAP, Power BI, and Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent technical and documentation skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

  • Respect and adherence to ethical principles regarding data protection and confidentiality

  • Ability to effectively work in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to travel up to 15%
