Robert Half Accounting Specialist in MOUNT AIRY, Maryland


Robert Half is looking for an Accounting Specialist for a small, but stable and growing company.


  • Provide general accounting support for a company with multiple entities.

  • Handle accounts receivable tasks including posting customer payments and reviewing invoices received from Technicians against payments processed to ensure accuracy.

  • Maintain cash/money orders and checks for daily cash drop and reconcile bank accounts.

  • Handle accounts payable tasks including entering invoices into the accounting system for processing.

  • Pull daily accounting reports from Successware to provide to the Accountant for review and analysis.

  • Enter service agreements and customer’s credit card information into the system.

  • Maintain data, documents, and reports in Successware (proprietary system), Google Sheets, and Excel.

  • Handle additional tasks as assigned by the Accountant or CFO.


  • 2+ years of general accounting experience (AP/AR) coming from a small, but growing company.

  • Experience working in a service-related industry (HVAC, plumbing, electrical etc.) is highly preferred.

  • Must be able to work 100% on site in the office.

  • Must be able to pass background, drug, and credit check.

  • Associates/Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field is a plus.

  • Strong technical skills with the ability to utilize Excel efficiently; Google Sheets and/or Successware software knowledge is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to ask for help when needed and bring new ideas to the table.

  • Strategic with a strong business acumen, sense of professionalism, integrity, and level of confidentiality.

  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and level of accuracy.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing tasks to meet time sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Resourceful, proactive, and self-motivated with a team player mentality and positive attitude.

  • Adaptable with the ability to operate independently or in a team environment with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data and effectively problem-solve.

Company offers competitive salary, medical/dental (no vision), life insurance, 401k with contribution, PTO package (1 week vacation and 2 days sick pay which increase with length of service), and paid holidays (6). This position sits 100% on site in the office with hours M-F, 8-4PM (hours are flexible with the ability to work 7:30-3:30PM/7-3PM/8-4PM etc.)
