Description Robert Half is looking for an Accounting Specialist for a client in the western suburbs. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing insights to support informed decision-making. The Accounting Specialist will be tasked with ensuring compliance with tax regulations and optimizing tax strategies, Additionally, who can efficiently handle daily accounting and financing tasks and is enthusiastic about contributing to and growing with our organization.
Responsibilities:
Analyze financial data and trends to identify insights and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data from various sources.
Prepare and present reports to management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Able to communicate/present to upper management on cost variance, inventory analysis and propose solutions for cost reductions and margin improvement
Conduct thorough research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Prepare and file tax returns accurately and timely.
Assist in tax planning and forecasting to minimize tax liabilities and maximize savings.
Provide support during tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Perform accounting and finance supporting tasks.
Perform other relevant accounting duties as assigned.
Successful Accounting Specialist will have:
Bachelor's degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field
3+ years of experience in accounting, taxes, data analysis or related field
Familiarity with accounting principles and financial statements.
Solid understanding of tax laws and regulations.
Experience in tax preparation and compliance
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Logical thinker with problem solving skills and an aptitude for systems/technology
Understanding of accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience with QuickBooks and SAP preferred
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Must be able to learn in a fast-paced environment and pivot as needed

• Demonstrable experience with general ledger operations
• Ability to prepare and post journal entries accurately
• Experience in month-end close processes
• Proficiency in QuickBooks for accounting tasks
• Familiarity with SAP ERP software for managing business operations
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling
• High attention to detail and accuracy in all work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
• Relevant certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an advantage.
