Robert Half Business Analyst in NAPERVILLE, Illinois


Primary Role

Responsible for the financial analysis, development, documentation, testing, training, implementation, and monitoring of the company’s strategic and new operational projects for the financial group, primarily related to the revenue lifecycle, billings through payment process. The Analyst maintains the relationship between the Accounting and financial functional business teams and the technical teams for the formation, planning and execution of project initiatives. The position will be responsible for ensuring new initiatives and strategies are implemented timely, efficiently, and effectively. The analyst is responsible to making the Accounting / Finance teams aware of any enterprise-wide project / technology changes that may have a financial impact to the functional team. Key Accountabilities:

Strategy and Growth Support - 60%

• Lead and coordinate with other teams to create business documents (requirements, flows, risk mitigation, etc) that produce better business outcomes

• Draft use and test cases for user acceptance testing

• Review and analysis of all functional and technical design documents

• Analysis of Requirements, Process, Impacts and plan for mitigations

• Provide system monitoring, analysis and journal entry support

• Provide management updates to leadership for supported financial areas

Operational Excellence - 40%

• Provide routine reconciliations and analysis for revenue recognition; partner variances; deferred revenue / advanced billing staging tables.

• Prepares journal entries to facilitate the resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items.

• Support Operational areas with analysis / reconciliations of transactional data on an ongoing/ adhoc basis.

• Provide accounting support for Accounts Receivable Operations group to ensure customer account integrity and financial data alignment.

• Provide Process improvement recommendations to management through analysis and meeting with financial areas

• Develop and maintain functional business flows and templates

Skills and Knowledge:


• Strong analytical skills and accounting functional skills; ability for large volume data analysis

• Strong knowledge of revenue lifecycle, deferred & advanced billings, and accounts receivable processes

• General knowledge of operations and customer billing practices, project management, and financial accounting procedures

• Strong project- management skills (e.g. planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and reporting on project activities). A strong sense of organization and schedule, ability to self-direct and prioritize a large number of often non-sequential tasks on multiple concurrent projects.

Education and Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Technology or related program or equivalent experience

• 3+ years’ experience in identification and implementation of process improvements

• Data analysis, problem identification and resolution

• Collaboration with technical and functional departments


• 3+ years of Billing/ Accounts Receivable / Revenue cycles and analysis
