Robert Half Network Engineer in Nashville, Tennessee
Description
Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join their growing IT team in Nashville, TN.! You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of their ever-evolving network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.) with a focus on high availability and performance.
Configure and manage network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) to optimize network routing and traffic flow.
Implement and enforce network security best practices including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.
Automate network tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex network issues, and identify root causes.
Participate in network capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.
Document network configurations and procedures for future reference.
Stay up to date on the latest network technologies and best practices.
Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Network Engineer with a focus on large-scale network infrastructure.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and concepts.
In-depth knowledge of network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
Experience with network security best practices and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
Proven experience with network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, PingPlotter).
Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Puppet).
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
Certifications (Preferred):
Cisco CCNA and CCNP (or equivalent)
Security+ certification
