Robert Half Network Engineer in Nashville, Tennessee

Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join their growing IT team in Nashville, TN.! You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of their ever-evolving network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.) with a focus on high availability and performance.

  • Configure and manage network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) to optimize network routing and traffic flow.

  • Implement and enforce network security best practices including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.

  • Automate network tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex network issues, and identify root causes.

  • Participate in network capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Document network configurations and procedures for future reference.

  • Stay up to date on the latest network technologies and best practices.

  • Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and initiatives.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Network Engineer with a focus on large-scale network infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and concepts.

  • In-depth knowledge of network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).

  • Experience with network security best practices and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).

  • Proven experience with network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, PingPlotter).

  • Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Puppet).

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Cisco CCNA and CCNP (or equivalent)

  • Security+ certification
