Healthcare Controller Opportunity with fast growing company!

This Controller opening will report directly to the CFO, and oversee a staff of 3-4. This healthcare company has been around for over 100 years, and has continued to grow and expand, which is why they are adding this new role to their team.
Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. This position is for candidates who can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. The ideal candidate for this position is a creative team player with a talent for challenging the status quo, coming up with unique ideas, negotiating and influencing. You might be in a good place to advance your career in this opportunity, as they are open to someone who is currently at the Accounting Manager level and ready for the next step to Controller, or currently in a Controller role. This position holds a growth path to CFO within the next few years as well, due to succession planning.
Your responsibilities in this role
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Each month, work closely with CFO to present executive committee and partners with financial reports

BS in Accounting or Finance; MBA or CPA preferred
Prior experience working in the healthcare field
Experience with grant accounting within a non-profit
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Experience working in a dynamic and growing company environment a plus
Strong familiarity with month end closings
Practical knowledge of budget forecasting
Journal entries experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of bank reconciliations
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as an Accounting Manager or Controller preferred, and including prior supervisory experience
