Robert Half Assistant Controller in New Haven, Indiana


We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in overseeing financial operations within our service industry organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong month-end close, accounts payable (AP), financial reporting, and service billing skills. Proficiency in SAGE accounting software and experience with service billing software are highly desired.


  • Assist in managing the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Oversee accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely payments.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Collaborate with the Controller to develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.

  • Provide support for external audits and tax compliance.

  • Manage service billing processes, including invoicing clients for completed projects and tracking billing discrepancies.

  • Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify areas for process improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Mentor and train finance team members as needed.



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience

  • 3+years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on month-end close, AP, financial reporting, and service billing.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in SAGE accounting software and experience with service billing software

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
