Robert Half Collections Specialist in New Hyde Park, New York

Description

Robert Half is looking for a Collections Specialist. You will be responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivable from clients. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who can efficiently handle customer accounts, resolve billing issues, and ensure timely payments. The Collections Specialist will work closely with the finance team to minimize bad debts and optimize the company's cash flow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage assigned accounts to identify overdue payments.

  • Review and analyze customer accounts for accuracy and completeness.

  • Contact customers via phone, email, and mail to collect outstanding payments.

  • Negotiate payment plans and terms with customers, ensuring adherence to company policies.

  • Record and document all collections activities in the company’s CRM system.

  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve billing issues promptly.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to maintain positive client relationships.

  • Prepare regular reports on collections status, including aging reports and cash forecasts.

  • Maintain accurate records of all communications and payment agreements.

  • Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to resolve disputes and facilitate collections.

  • Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile accounts and ensure accurate reporting.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of successful collections and debt recovery.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

  • Experience with CRM and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
