Robert Half Accounting Manager in New Orleans, Louisiana

Description

Robert Half is searching for an experienced Accounting Manager in New Orleans, Louisiana. This role involves managing a variety of accounting functions, including purchases, disbursements, vendor relationships, and shipping and receiving operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting software systems, and procurement, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee purchases and disbursements through the purchase order and invoice systems, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations.

• Ensure procurement thresholds are adhered to and purchases are reviewed against approved budgets.

• Maintain accurate and timely processing and recording of purchase orders and invoices.

• Uphold contract terms and ensure vendors are paid on time and in accordance with terms.

• Oversee weekly expenses outflow (cashflow management) and supervise AP Clerks performing the disbursement run.

• Support Financial Reporting Division to ensure purchases in AP are recorded properly in the general ledger.

• Manage and monitor master vendor and product lists to determine if qualifications, company information, and data are updated.

• Oversee the purchasing cycle for all goods and services, determining the most cost-effective and beneficial method of purchase.

• Lead Annual Vendor Audit to ensure document compliance and internal controls are followed.

• Plan, manage, and evaluate the operation of the Shipping and Receiving division, ensuring timely receipt and recording of merchandise.

• Manage the analysis of the Purchasing, A/P, and S& R department’s monthly expense budget to actual numbers, compiling information for budget preparation, external audits, and other projects.

• Assist with special projects as assigned by Director and/or Assistant Director.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems

• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions

• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in Billing Functions

• Knowledge of Procurement processes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
