Robert Half Accounts Payable Accountant in New Orleans, Louisiana

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Accountant in the transport industry, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks and will contribute significantly to the financial management of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Coding and processing incoming invoices in an accurate and timely manner

• Assisting with the execution of the weekly check run

• Managing the collection, validation, and coding of expense reports

• Maintaining comprehensive and accurate accounting records

• Preparing monthly journal entries as part of the financial statement closing process

• Reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts regularly

• Assisting with the preparation and completion of annual audit requests

• Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance

• Assisting in preparing federal, state, local, and special tax returns as needed

• Performing other accounting duties as required or assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and a minimum of 3 years of experience in full cycle A/P in a complex industry.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Excel.

• Ability to perform month-end close procedures.

• Experience in account reconciliation is essential.

• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

• Familiarity with accounting software and systems is a plus.

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

• Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations.

• Understanding of confidentiality obligations and accounting best practices.

• Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.

• A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
