Robert Half Finance & Accounting is searching for a dynamic Assistant Controller on behalf of an established consumer services and transportation company in New Orleans, LA.
This position will serve as the highest accounting and finance authority in New Orleans, with oversight of multiple entity locations.

Identify and develop process improvements to streamline financial reporting cadences and improve team efficiency.
Formulate detailed analytical summaries on relevant subjects, including Actual vs. Budget (variance analysis), P& L Review (Profit & Loss), Profit Margin, and other critical financial metrics.
Lead accounting team through process change initiatives through collaborative partnerships with operational leaders across the business.
Advocate implementation of improved practices (advanced technology or efficiency measures to optimize the accounting function).
Ensure a strong structure of internal controls, GAAP compliance, and adherence to internal policies and procedures across the organization through cross-collaborative communication.
Prepare monthly financial statements, including P& L, Income Statement, Revenue Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and others required for monthly reporting package.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations, book journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, review accounts payable and receivable entries, fixed asset valuation, and all other necessary steps to prepare for monthly closing.
Assume full ownership of all month-end close review processes and timely completion.
Deliver financial performance presentations across various levels of the organization.
Develop competent, trained accounting staff through goal setting and regular performance evaluation.
Enforce accountability and meeting of deliverable items, while managing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
Proactively prepare for and coordinate fiscal year-end audit.
Bachelor of Accounting or Finance Degree required.
7 or more years of full cycle accounting experience within a deadline driven environment, including ownership of all month-end closing processes and production of financial statements.
Knowledge of local tax filing requirements.
Demonstrated understanding of fundamental accounting practices and GAAP standards.
Prior experience in managing accounting activity, including monthly close, for multiple company entities or locations.
Proven success in establishing internal partnerships to proactively resolve issues impacting multiple departments (operations, accounting, and others).
Advanced analytical aptitude and experience in producing cost, financial, statistical, trend, and other forms of analytical summaries along with the ability to effectively articulate financial outcomes.
Previous experience in successfully leading small teams.
Occasional travel required within regional area, approximately 2 - 3 days/month.
