Robert Half Accounting Manager in New York, New York

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a seasoned Accounting Manager in New York. This role is within a reputable non-profit philanthropic organization and will involve supporting tax, accounting, and audit efforts. The successful candidate will liaise with third-party tax firms and assist with audit inputs related to tax filings. They will also be involved in managing the organization's insurance policies, including facilitating renewals with brokers and negotiating new policies.

Responsibilities:

• Support tax, accounting, and audit efforts within the organization

• Liaise with third-party tax firms to provide support for tax filing and various tax requests

• Assist with audit inputs as they relate to tax filings

• Manage the organization's insurance policies, including facilitating renewals with brokers

• Negotiate new insurance policies as necessary

• Use Great Plains (GPAC) software for various accounting tasks

• Prepare and manage multi-state tax returns and tax reporting

• Handle income tax and federal tax returns

• Work with commercial insurance, insurance policy, and insurance providers

• Contribute to the annual external audit process Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or in a similar role

• Proficiency in using Great Plains (GPAC) is required

• Extensive experience in auditing is essential

• Ability to prepare tax returns accurately and efficiently

• Experience in preparing multi-state tax returns is necessary

• Proficient in tax reporting and familiar with various tax regulations

• Experience in preparing both income tax returns and federal tax returns is required

• Knowledge of commercial insurance, including understanding insurance policies and dealing with insurance providers

• Must have participated in an annual external audit process

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required

• CPA certification is preferred

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

• Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical skills

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
