Robert Half Accounting Specialist in New York, New York
Description
Established New York City organization is currently seeking an Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist will ensure that all employees are paid accurately and on time, and that all company bills are paid promptly.
Duties will include:
Process and verify payment documents such as invoices, bank statements, and accounts payable records.
Process payroll for all employees, including calculating hours worked, taxes, and insurance deductions.
Review time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
Prepare and distribute paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
Report and process employee benefit contributions to appropriate vendors.
Coordinate with HR department to ensure correct employee data.
Resolve issues or discrepancies related to payroll and accounts payable.
Prepare reports for upper management, finance department, and auditors.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll and tax requirements and regulations.
Prepare year-end reports and assist with annual audit tasks.
Maintain confidentiality of all financial data.
Requirements
An associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Prior experience in payroll processing and accounts payable.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll tax laws.
Familiarity with payroll software.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Strong numerical skills.
Ability to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
