Description
NYC client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their high-growth SaaS company. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage financial operations, ensure compliance with GAAP, and oversee critical processes such as revenue recognition (ASC 606) and stock compensation accounting (ASC 718). The ideal candidate is a CPA with a strong background in financial reporting, month-end close, and cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and other financial operations.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Revenue Recognition & Stock Compensation
Lead the implementation and compliance with ASC 606 for revenue recognition.
Manage ASC 718 stock-based compensation, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
Financial Reporting
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership based on financial performance.
Collaborate with external auditors during audits and reviews.
Cash Flow Management
Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure the company’s liquidity and financial stability.
Develop strategies to optimize working capital.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and processes to support company growth.
Partner with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
Education and Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Experience:
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the SaaS industry or high-growth environments.
Strong knowledge of ASC 606 (revenue recognition) and ASC 718 (stock compensation).
Proven experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and managing AP/AR/payroll functions.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
Experience with stock compensation platforms is a plus.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
