Description

An Assistant Controller position has opened up with one of our clients. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a demonstrated history of resolving problems after identifying issues. The Assistant Controller will supervise the accounting staff while reporting to the Controller. This full-time employment opportunity is based in the New York, New York area. Responsibilities

  • Test and produce Ad Hoc financial reports

  • Other duties as requested

  • Assist implementation and assure adherence to accounting policies and procedures

  • Boost accountability and the meeting of deliverables

  • Give to the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including forecasting and budgeting

  • Identify and develop process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency

  • Ready different technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures

  • Develop relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like the monthly flash report, actual spend against budgets/outlook, and key financial metrics

  • Ensure regular account reconciliation to completion

  • Backfill for Controller as provided

  • Help lead the accounting team during the closing process to ensure deadlines are met

  • Assist to ensure a competent, trained staff through goal setting, development, and regular assessment

  • Forward-thinking preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IIA standards

    • Notable accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred

    • Thorough knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • CPA a plus

  • Command of IFRS Accounting

  • Deep understanding of commercial real estate

  • Solid understanding of CPA

  • Accruals experience

  • Foundational knowledge in MRI

  • Adeptness in month end closings

  • 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience

  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds
