Established New York City firm is currently seeking a Billing Specialist. In this role, you will be tasked with managing the billing process, maintaining accurate records and resolving any billing disputes. This role operates within the legal industry, therefore a familiarity with its billing systems, processes, and policies is crucial.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the billing process including data entry, charge description, time entry, invoice preparation, and submission.

• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to generate, review, and submit client invoices.

• Respond to and resolve inquiries and disputes related to billing in a timely manner.

• Adhere to the firm's billing procedures and policies to ensure compliance.

• Utilize legal billing software for efficient management of work.

• Collaborate with accounting and finance team to ensure accurate financial records.

• Provide input on the development of firm-wide billing policies and procedures.

• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and make collection arrangements if necessary.

• Prepare various activity reports and financial statements for review.

• Maintain confidentiality and privacy policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Billing Specialist or similar role.

• Experience with Computerized Billing and EHR SYSTEM.

• Familiarity with Epic Software and About Time.

• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions.

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Ability to handle Answering Inbound Calls.

• Knowledge of Billing Software for Attorneys.

• Experience with general Billing procedures.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred.
