Robert Half Payroll Specialist in New York, New York

Description We are on the lookout for a diligent Payroll Specialist to join our Real Estate & Property team located in New York. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity, where you will be in charge of processing weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for a substantial number of employees. Experience with union-related processes and multi-state environments will be beneficial for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in processing weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for a significant number of employees.

• Dealing with payroll-related inquiries from employees and providing timely solutions.

• Ensuring accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll in a multi-state environment.

• Collaborating with unions for payroll processing and handling related tasks.

• Utilizing Paylocity for payroll processing, or being open to training on the platform if not already familiar.

• Preparing and managing employee timesheets for payroll processing.

• Proficiently using Microsoft Excel for payroll calculations and data management.

• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws, and best practices.

• Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data.

• Assisting in payroll and tax audits. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in handling Multi-state Payroll.

• Experience in managing Payroll for over 500 Employees.

• Proven ability to handle Payroll for a Union.

• Familiarity with various payroll processes including Bi-weekly Payroll, semi-Monthly Payrolls, and Weekly Payroll.

• Ability to accurately process Employee Timesheets.

• Proficiency in using Paylocity for payroll processing.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.

• Prior experience in the Real Estate & Property industry is desirable.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle payroll discrepancies effectively.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Professional certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.

• Continual learning mindset to stay updated with changing payroll laws and regulations.
