We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the construction industry, based in Queens, New York. The role involves handling payroll functions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting the head of payroll.

Responsibilities

• Handling the processing of payroll for a large number of employees

• Ensuring accurate data entry for weekly payroll

• Assisting the Head of Payroll in their duties and acting as a backup when required

• Managing garnishments related to payroll

• Maintaining and updating payroll records for all employees

• Ensuring compliance with union payroll requirements

• Handling payroll in-house and manually when necessary

• Processing payroll in a timely and accurate manner

• Monitoring and managing customer accounts as needed

• Resolving any payroll-related inquiries from employees.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role

• Proficiency in payroll systems and ability to process payroll manually

• Experience with payroll for 101-500 employees

• Familiarity with in-house payroll systems

• Experience with union payroll and understanding of garnishments

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

• Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
