Robert Half International Staff Accountant in NEW YORK, New York
Description An up-and-coming firm has teamed up with Robert Half to find an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team. The responsibilities of a Staff Accountant entail preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This New York, New York based firm has a short-term contract / temporary position available, and offers an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.
What you get to do every day
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation Requirements - Proficiency in journal entries
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Month end closings experience
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Experience with ERP systems
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
