Robert Half Staff Accountant in New York, New York

Description We are providing an opportunity to work as a Staff Accountant in the healthcare industry. Our workplace is located in New York and we are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity. The role will require you to manage various accounting tasks, monitor internal controls over accounting operations, and manage technology assets among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial processes such as reconciling corporate credit card and overseeing financial data reconciliation processes between all systems.

• Serve as the department contact for financial reporting for donor reports, account balances, endowment market values.

• Establish and implement a document retention policy for the department that includes management of electronic, paper, and offsite storage.

• Manage the technology (software/hardware) assets and the replacement processes.

• Plan and oversee all accounting tasks in support of Foundation operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and general ledger.

• Monitor and maintain internal controls over accounting and fundraising operations.

• Develop and monitor the Foundation’s budget and financial plans, authorize and approve Foundation expenditures, manage the annual external audit process and oversee annual tax return filing, manage contracts with outside consultants and vendors.

• Manage annual audit & 990 preparation in coordination with Finance.

• Serve as a liaison to the Finance Department and track gift accounts to ensure proper fund allocation. Conduct monthly reconciliation with Finance and coordinate with gift accounting on adjustments.

• Prepare all transfer memos for the movement of revenue.

• Prepare monthly pledge and capital income reports for the Finance department.

• Manage pledge records including collection and payments.

• Partner with Special Events and Event Consultants to monitor revenue and expenses.

• Serve as a liaison with the Legal department for State Registration process.

• Provide training and maintain Gift Map database.

• Serve as backup on the payroll system. Requirements • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

• Proven experience as a staff accountant or in a similar role in the healthcare industry.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

• Proficiency in using accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP.

• Proficient in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Journal Entries.

• Ability to perform Month End Close activities.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Must exhibit a high level of professionalism.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.

• Must be able to demonstrate initiative and proactive approach to tasks.

• Excellent time management skills.
