Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Part Time Staff Accountant in the retail industry located in New York. The selected candidate will be part of a team supporting end closing tasks, financial reporting, and working with auditors and tax consultants to file yearly returns.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting in month-end close procedures
• Preparing and presenting financial reporting documents
• Collaborating with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained
• Working with tax consultants to file complex tax returns
• Participating in quarter-end reporting to internal and external stakeholders
• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring data integrity
• Providing support to a team of 7 in various accounting tasks
• Assisting in resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Adhering to proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
Requirements
• Proven experience in a Staff Accountant role within the retail industry
• Strong knowledge and experience with Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in Financial Reporting and understanding of related principles
• Experience with handling Complex Tax Returns
• Capability to manage Quarter-end financial activities
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity
• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills
