Robert Half Staff Accountant in New York, New York

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in New York. In this role, you will be working for a non-profit organization, fulfilling a variety of accounting responsibilities. You will be reporting to the Fiscal Federation Controller, preparing, processing, and analyzing general ledger transactions, and assisting with audits and month-end closing.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare, process, and analyze general ledger transactions to maintain accurate financial records.

• Conduct account analysis and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial standards.

• Record and reconcile bank accounts and statements to keep track of financial transactions.

• Review accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.

• Assist with audits and month-end closing to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Use accounting software such as QuickBooks and Lawson to streamline accounting processes.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for detailed financial analysis and data management.

• Handle corporate transactions with due diligence and accuracy.

• Maintain a high level of detail in all tasks to ensure accuracy and efficiency in accounting processes. Requirements • Minimum of three years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar position within a non-profit organization

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Experience with bank reconciliations and managing the general ledger

• Demonstrated skills in making journal entries and performing month-end close procedures

• Knowledge of corporate transactions and account analysis

• Familiarity with Lawson and QuickBooks accounting software

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for detailed financial and analytical tasks

• Strong analytical skills for performing detailed analysis of financial data

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy in all work

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when needed.
