Robert Half Tax Manager in New York, New York

Description

We are seeking a dedicated Tax Manager to join a client of ours in the non-profit industry. This role will be based in New York City and will focus on managing all aspects of the tax cycle, especially the annual form 990-PF and 990-T filings.

Key Responsibilities:

Form 990 Preparation and Filing:

  • Lead the preparation and timely filing of Form 990 and other related tax forms.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information and disclosures required by Form 990.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external tax advisors as needed to gather necessary information.

Tax Compliance:

  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations affecting tax-exempt organizations.

  • Interpret and apply relevant tax laws to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.

  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance.

Internal Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare internal reports related to tax liabilities, deductions, and exemptions.

  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.

Risk Management and Strategy:

  • Identify and assess potential tax risks and opportunities.

  • Provide strategic advice to senior management on tax-related matters impacting the foundation’s operations and mission.

Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tax authorities, auditors, and other external stakeholders.

  • Foster positive relationships with internal departments to streamline tax-related processes and information flow.

    Requirements

• Must possess extensive knowledge and experience with Tax - Form 990

• Proficiency in US GAAP is required

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is mandatory

• Experience with K-1 forms is essential

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary

• Must have experience in preparing Federal Tax Returns

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage a team

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Must have a high level of integrity and dependability.
