Description

Our client is seeking a Sr. Accountant for a contract to hire position at a non-profit organization in Newark, New Jersey. The Senior Accountant will assist with the month end close, reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries. The Sr. Accountant will also be responsible for grant management. The Senior Accountant must have MIP software experience and will have previously worked for a non-profit organization. This role has a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the organization's workload and prioritizing tasks effectively

• Utilize your knowledge and experience with Abila MIP and Microix software for efficient financial management

• Handle month-end close, daily reconciliation, and journal entries as part of your regular duties

• Leverage your experience in non-profit and grant accounting to optimize our financial processes

• Play an active role in the preparation and management of financial reports and statements

• Assist in the application and management of grants and other sources of non-profit funding

• Work closely with other team members to ensure all financial operations are running smoothly and efficiently

• Use your skills in budget allocation to ensure all funds are used effectively and efficiently.

Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accountant, preferably within the non-profit sector.

• Proficiency in using Abila MIP and Microix software.

• Experience in budget allocations and month-end close processes.

• Ability to conduct daily reconciliation and create journal entries.

• Knowledge of fund accounting, specifically within the non-profit sector.

• Experience in grant accounting.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to non-profit accounting practices.
