Description

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the billing process in a healthcare setting. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies and following up on unpaid claims. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of medical billing procedures and coding.

Billing and Coding:

  • Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies.

  • Review and verify patient information and medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).

  • Ensure that all patient data and billing codes comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Claims Management:

  • Follow up on unpaid claims and handle claim denials and appeals.

  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies in billing records and payment transactions.

  • Maintain detailed records of all billing activities and correspondence.

Patient Interaction:

  • Communicate with patients regarding their billing inquiries and account status.

  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient concerns and explaining billing processes.

Coordination and Reporting:

  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely billing.

  • Generate and analyze billing reports to track financial performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Assist in preparing financial statements and other accounting reports related to billing activities.

    Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or healthcare administration.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and insurance processes.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
